5 simple mindfulness exercises

Want to give mindfulness a go, but don’t know where to start?

Here are 5 simple exercises to get you started:

  1. Deep Breathing
Focus on taking deep breaths, inhaling slowly and exhaling slowly. Pay attention to the sensation of air entering and leaving your body.

  2. Body Scan
Lie down or sit comfortably and focus on each body part, starting from your toes and working your way up to the top of your head, noticing any sensations or emotions in each part.

  3. Sensory Observation
Choose an object, like a flower or a cup of tea, and focus all of your attention on it. Observe its colors, textures, and shapes.

  4. Walking Meditation
Take a slow walk, focusing on each step and the sensations in your feet. Pay attention to the sounds, sights, and smells around you.

  5. Gratitude Practice
Take a moment to think about something you are grateful for and reflect on why it makes you feel grateful. Repeat this exercise regularly to cultivate a sense of gratitude in your daily life.
